On May 9th the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists made public a searchable database of more than 368,000 people and 300,000 offshore entities identified as part of the Panama Papers data breach. JConnelly’s Chief Strategy Officer Michelle Pittman provides three important tips for handling this and other crisis scenarios to PR Daily.
Here are three tips to consider if your company was connected to the Panama Papers release:
- Have a strong crisis communications strategy in place.
- Once the database is live, appoint someone to search the database for your company. Identify any possible associations early on.
- Don’t assume that the press that appears on day one is it. Future stories will most likely arise.
